In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel called upon Ernest Beaux to create a rare and powerful “woman’s perfume, with a woman’s scent.” The perfumer presented her with a visionary composition that made unprecedented use of aldehydes, and thus N°5 Parfum was born. In 1924, a new expression with woodier notes emerged: N°5 Eau de Toilette.
COMPOSITION
The fragrance opens with a bouquet of rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang, elevated by aldehydes, while sandalwood and vetiver add depth.
ART OF PERFUMING
The Eau de Toilette comes in a spray and can be applied generously.
